In 2016 Sarah Smuts-Kennedy used her 3 month artist residency to give service to Kauri Trees suffering from Kauri Dieback in the grounds of the McCahon House Museum. Violet Light traces Sarah painting 7 of these trees with a healing poultice made with an ash that resulted from performing a Sanskrit homa called Agnihotra every sunrise and sunset over 3 months.
